PA Shu Qiu was my site evaluator, and I really enjoyed learning from her throughout this rotation. She shared so many valuable clinical pearls from her own experiences, which made our discussions much more practical and helped bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world patient care. I learned a tremendous amount from her, especially regarding medication dosing, as she consistently emphasized choosing appropriate weight-based doses, recognizing maximum dosing limits, and understanding why certain medications are preferred over others in specific clinical situations.
One of the biggest areas in which she helped me improve was my H&P documentation. She taught me how to make my histories and physicals more concise while still including the key information needed to support my assessment and plan. Her feedback helped me recognize that a well-written H&P should be focused, organized, and clinically relevant rather than simply including every detail from the patient encounter.
I also appreciated the way she provided feedback. She consistently highlighted what I was doing well while offering thoughtful, constructive suggestions on areas where I could improve. Her teaching style created a supportive learning environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and thinking through my clinical reasoning without worrying about making mistakes. Overall, her guidance strengthened both my documentation skills and my clinical decision-making, and I will carry many of the lessons she shared with me into my future rotations and clinical practice.
